CHANNEL NEWS ASIA DOCUMENTARY - DAYS OF DISASTER

Client: Mediacorp Channel NewsAsia
Commissioned by: Our Artists' work at Vividthree

Days of Disaster is a five-part landmark documentary series that chronicles some of the most pivotal events that have shaped modern Singapore. From a plane hijacking and industrial catastrophe to a hotel collapse, massive fire, and crippling water crisis, each episode brings these historic moments vividly to life through a combination of high-quality drama reconstruction, CGI, and exclusive eyewitness accounts—many shared publicly for the first time.

Our team contributed motion design and VFX elements to enhance the storytelling, creating immersive visuals that help audiences grasp the scale and impact of each disaster. CGI reconstructions were carefully crafted to ensure historical accuracy while maintaining cinematic intensity, and motion graphics were integrated to clearly present data, timelines, and contextual information in an engaging way.

By blending technical precision with creative artistry, the series transforms archival material and eyewitness testimonies into a visually compelling experience, allowing viewers to connect emotionally with the events and understand their significance in shaping Singapore’s history.

Recognized for its exceptional production value, Days of Disaster was named a Finalist at the New York Film Festival 2016, reflecting the quality of both its narrative and visual storytelling. Through a careful balance of documentary insight, VFX, and motion design, the series stands as a benchmark for historical storytelling in Singaporean television.
