MEDIACORP TUESDAY REPORT: STARS OF THOSE DAYS

Client: Mediacorp Chinese Current Affairs
Commissioned by: Vividthree

The Chinese music recording industry, which emerged in the early 20th century, played a pivotal role in shaping Singapore’s cultural landscape. With the advent of radio broadcasts and the arrival of television in households, Singaporeans were introduced to a rich tapestry of film, pop, and television music. Beyond the stars of Hong Kong and Taiwan, local talents such as Pan Xiuqiong, Qin Huai, Huang Qingyuan, and Wu Gang captured hearts with their performances, leaving a lasting impression on audiences. Their songs became more than entertainment—they reflected shared experiences, aspirations, and the collective spirit of a young nation finding its voice.

For this documentary program package, we created a visually compelling motion design program opener that sets the stage for the storytelling. Combining 3D animation, dynamic typography, and cinematic motion graphics, the package brings archival materials, historical photographs, and musical performances to life, bridging past and present. Each animated sequence was designed to immerse viewers in the era while providing context and narrative flow, elevating the documentary’s storytelling impact.

The work was recognized at the New York Festivals 2025, receiving a Bronze award in Craft Program / Graphic Design, reflecting the excellence and creativity of the motion design and animation work. This program package demonstrates how motion design and 3D animation can transform historical content into a visually rich, award-winning experience.
