Wang Cheng Chung is a poignant Taiwanese movie based on a true story and adapted from a book, set in Taichung’s rural Nantou County. After graduating from Kaohsiung Normal University, Wang Cheng Chung is assigned to teach at Shuangwen Primary School in Zhongliao Township, a school facing severe shortages in educational resources. Initially planning to leave after completing his internship, Wang’s life takes a dramatic turn when the Taiwan 921 earthquake strikes.

The natural disaster devastates the community, and the students’ heartfelt plea, “Teacher, will you be coming back?” profoundly moves him. Inspired by their resilience and determination, Wang chooses to stay, dedicating himself to improving the education of rural children despite the lack of resources and the challenges posed by the earthquake.

Our team contributed to the film by creating VFX and visual effects, depicting the earthquake’s impact with realistic simulations of destruction, debris, and environmental changes. Through careful 3D animation, we recreated the rural landscape and school environments, amplifying the emotional gravity of the story while maintaining authenticity. The visual effects were designed to seamlessly integrate with live-action footage, highlighting both the devastation of the disaster and the courage of Wang and his students.

This Taiwanese movie combines human drama, historical events, and cinematic storytelling, with VFX enhancing the narrative of perseverance, dedication, and hope in the face of adversity.
