Crooks, starring Christopher Lee and directed by Lemmon Wong, marks a significant milestone as Singapore’s first AI-hybrid drama, combining conventional filmmaking with advanced AI-assisted workflows throughout post-production. Produced by Boi Kwong under B0-1 Films, BYKAI Pte Ltd and led by Jay Hong, the main creative and technical lead from WOWFX Studios, the project integrated AI across key stages of the visual production process.

WOWFX Studios leveraged AI-assisted technologies to support background generation, virtual set design, relighting, spatial environment expansion, and environment replacement, enabling greater flexibility and efficiency in developing the drama’s visual environments. Key story locations—including the restaurant, kitchen, alley, opium den, hospital, and other period-inspired spaces—were digitally enhanced, expanded, and transformed through a combination of AI-generated content, visual effects, and conventional post-production techniques.

As AI-generated content continues to reshape the production landscape, Crooks demonstrates how emerging AI workflows can be practically integrated into a professional film and television pipeline. Under Jay Hong’s lead, WOWFX Studios used AI not as a replacement for traditional production expertise, but as a creative and technical tool to accelerate environment development, meet complex visual requirements, and expand post-production possibilities while maintaining the production's overall visual direction.
